2023 – 2024 Season
Private Lessons (Up to 2 students)
- Parents can schedule with the studio Private Lessons of up to 2 students which will be billed monthly after the student has participated in classes. Scheduling for must be done through email or over the phone and cannot be set up through the parent portal. Private lessons will be charged monthly and must be paid by the first Friday of the month. Appointments are 30 minutes long and cost $30 per appointment. If you want to share that cost, we are allowing up to 2 pre-approved family/friends of students to attend.
- We will add you to our BAND app so we can communicate directly with you without sharing your personal info. Please accept the invitation to this app when it is received.
- Before your first class, your teacher will contact you and discuss any needs or questions you may have before attending through the BAND app–a social media community where we can communicate with you via text (please see our FAQs for more info on the Band App).
- There are no special uniforms required to attend. But we do ask that your child wear the appropriate dance attire so teachers can see body lines and certain features on their body since they will be using contactless teaching methods. No bulky or restrictive clothing. Please ask your teacher what is appropriate to wear to your private lessons.
- We are asking that all students arrive in their dance attire ready to dance on-time. Most appointments are back-to-back and we want to utilize the small window of 30 minutes that is specially reserved for your child. You can arrive 15 minutes early to warm-up in our special warm-up room before your class.
- Parents may watch at designated locations inside the facility.
- During the first 2 lessons the teacher will evaluate the student(s) and will demonstrate and upload a basic warm-up routine video to the Band app at the student’s level to do at home before they come to the studio for their lessons or in the warm-up room with a tv and hdmi adapter 15-30 before their class time. We want parents to get their money’s worth so we feel that it is crucial to utilize those 30 minutes of teacher instruction and technique only. Warming up and cooling down can be safely done outside that 30 min class time.
- Please see our cancellation policy by clicking here.
Recreational group classes (4-10 students in each class)
- We are now offering recreational classes in Ballet, Acro, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Conditioning/Strength classes. These classes will range from 35 to 60 minutes long, 1 time per week.
- Small class sizes are important to us so each child can achieve as much personal attention as possible. Our toddler and preschool level classes will only have 4-8 students, while our lower/upper level classes will have 6-10 students. We only have a limited number of recreational classes available on a first come, first served availability.
- Tuition for recreational classes is billed monthly at the first of the month. The first month’s class must be paid for at the time of registration or the class will not be reserved for the student. We encourage parents to sign up for our AutoPay program so they won’t miss a payment. Monthly tuition is billed using the AutoPay account set up at registration on the first of every month. If the AutoPay fails, the parent will be notified via email and the tuition for that month will need to be paid within the first Friday of the month. If tuition is not paid within a week of the AutoPay failure notice, a second email will be sent notifying families that a late fee will be assessed. If tuition is still not paid, a $5 late fee will be assessed to the student account. A late fee of $5 will be assessed to the student account every week it is past due until the account is paid in full. If tuition is four weeks past due, the student will not be allowed to participate in classes until payments are made and may be unenrolled from the class.
- VPAC’s performance year follows the Sunnyside School district’s school and holiday schedule. Students are required to participate for the full performance year. While we realize there are many different after school activities that come up at different times of year for our students, we ask that students adhere to the year long commitment. As class sizes are limited, students dropping classes during the year inhibits other students who otherwise would have participated from being able to do so. Dropping mid-year also negatively affects other students as teachers and students prepare for performances.
- All students are required to wear modest and appropriate clothing while in the studio or at events where they are representing VPAC. All dance classes are required to wear their designated uniforms to class every week. Ballet students need to ensure that their tights are well cared for and replace tights as wear and tear occurs. Street shoes are not allowed on dance floors. Please bring shoes for class separately and change into them upon arrival to your class. Do not wear dance shoes outside of the studio as you can ruin them or track in dirt from the street. If you do not know what your designated uniform is, please ask your teacher.
Company Team offerings (minis, juniors, seniors, & Sr Elite)
- We now have four dance companies available. This is a pre-professional opportunity for the the more serious student. This means more commitment, more one-on-one time with instructors, and more time in the studio. We prepare our students for dance competitions all around the country, as well as preparing them for auditions for colleges or professional companies. This program offering is fairly new to VPAC, and we are excited to see how it develops in the future.
- Registration and tuition looks a bit different than recreational classes. Students first must express interest in one of the three companies, then an instructor will recommend a company class for that student to participate in depending on age and dance experience. Please see our detailed price list for the company classes. Click here for a copy of choreography pricing
- Company members will participate in various performance opportunities such as community events, recitals, and dance competitions. The performance opportunities are not all mandatory, but they are highly encouraged. The student must be committed to attending multiple classes or appointments per week, rehearsing many hours before performance, and performing on a regular basis. We encourage parents to help their children eat nutritious foods, drink water regularly, and maintain consistent stretching routines at home so their growing bodies will stay healthy and injury-free. Instructors will build warm-up and cool-down exercises into the students daily routine, and encourage students to abide by these guidelines for safety. When students fail to abide by these guidelines, they risk long term injury.
- Parents are encouraged to be very involved throughout the performance season. Involvement may include: music choice for solos/duets/trios/group numbers; working with choreographers on rehearsal schedules; choosing and acquiring modest costumes; transporting, maintaining, or creating costumes and/or props; traveling/carpooling to competitions; backstage help; event planning and set-up; fundraising etc. We couldn’t do this without our parents!
FAQs
WHAT IS THE BAND APP?
The BAND app is a communication app for teachers and students to communicate directly with one another without sharing personal information. When you sign up for private lessons or classes, we will send you an invitation to join our “VPAC DANCE” Band group. Then we will place you in private chat groups with teachers and other students your child is in the class with. That way you can let us know if you need to cancel or have any questions. Teachers can also post videos and pictures directly to those chat groups. You can also access the calendars and set it up for reminders so you won’t be late to your class. It’s a nice way to communicate and stay on top of things as they may change often. Please turn on your “notifications” so you can be notified right away if there is a change in your child’s schedule that day.
What IS your Tuition Pricing?
Tuition is based on 34 weeks of classes and split into 9 equal monthly payments (Sept – May) that are automatically withdrawn through our autopay system. Please sign up for autopayments or update your existing card when registering. If paying via cash/check you must pay by the first Friday of each month or a $5 late fee will be applied to your account per week. No exceptions.
As a studio we must balance keeping up with the ever changing economy but still try to keep our families happy. The new tuition fees are based on an hourly rate per week. Even though fees seem higher upfront if a student just takes one class per week, it is our hope that this new tuition pay scale will encourage families and students to spend more time in our studio and take more classes with us at a lower cost in the long run. The more classes you take, the bigger the discount in price compared to our tuition from past years. The base rate may start out larger, but the increments charged per every 15 minutes are cut in half compared to last year’s tuition increases. So we hope this helps our families who want to take multiple classes and include multiple students.
Company/competition choreography is exempt from monthly tuition rates. Choreography is charged for each routine chosen (solo, duo, trio, or 4+ group). Please see our choreography fees document for more information on choreography fees and requirements.

What are your Tuition policies?
Monthly tuition is billed using the AutoPay feature on the first Friday of every month. If the AutoPay fails the parent will be notified via email, and tuition for that month will need to be manually paid via the parent portal account within the first week of the month. Payments can also be made via check or cash before the first Friday of every month. If tuition is not paid within a week of the AutoPay failure notice (or first Friday of the month), a $5 late fee will be applied to the student account by the following Friday. A late fee of $5 will be applied to the student account every week it is past due until the account is paid in full.
Teachers will require payment in order for the student to attend class during the weeks that tuition is past due. If tuition is four weeks past due, the student will be dropped from the class and payment, including late fees, must be paid in order to re-register any time in the future.
