We are inviting all to participate!
On behalf of the City of Sunnyside and at the request of the Sunnyside Rotary Club, we would like to invite you to participate in two exciting events during the weekend of Sunnyside's 30th annual Lighted Farm Implement Parade.
#1 Flash Mob Dance Event
Join us for Sunnyside's first ever "Flash Mob" Christmas dance event! The Flash Mob will take place right before the 30th anniversary Lighted Implement Parade the evening of December 1st at three different locations along the parade route. This is an exciting opportunity for community members to be participants in this nationally recognized city event.
We are requesting that you share the flash mob information others to participate in this event. The Valley Performing Arts Center has been asked to choreograph and teach the Flash Mob style dance via YouTube. We will also be holding FREE community rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7pm to 7:30 pm at our new facility, 401 S. 7th Street in Sunnyside (the old Bank of America building). These rehearsals will begin Nov 5th.

What is a Flash Mob?
Anyone participating in the Flash Mob dance will be casually waiting near their designated location. When they hear the music start, participants will run onto the street and begin dancing facing all directions. Then when the song is over, participants will casually walk back into the crowd as if nothing happened. The flash mob dance is exactly one minute long. It is fairly simple choreography and we anticipate that people of all ages are able to learn and participate. We will designate 3 groups to perform the Flash Mob. The three locations are:

Group 1) Edison Ave. in front of the Sunnyside High School (dance starts at 6 pm)
Group 2) Edison Ave. in front of Astria Hospital (dance starts 3 minutes later)
Group 3) Edison Ave. in front of the Gazebo (final dance starts another 3 minutes later)

The 3rd dance ends at the Gazebo, and then the Annual Jingle Bell run will start (6:20 pm). After the Jingle Bell run, the lighted Implement parade begins (6:30 pm).

#2 Lower Valley Choir Carolers
A delightful Choir that will walk down the parade route singing carols (5:45 pm) and will bring in the Holiday Spirit as people gather to watch the 30th Annual Lighted Farm Implement Parade. This choir will also perform Thursday evening, November 29th, at the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony (6:30 pm).

Our hope is that this choir will continue through the ages gathering community members together to celebrate future events with music. The choir is conducted by Elizabeth Moss.

Free practices for the choir are held at The Valley Performing Arts Center on Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 7:30 pm starting Nov 1. The choir will learn four carols sung without accompaniment performed on Dec 1st, and one song with instrumental accompaniment for the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov 29th. Songs are simple and fun, and should be enjoyable for ages 8 to adult.

We need as many participants as possible to make these events successful. Participants may choose to participate in both events if they desire. This is the 30th anniversary of the Lighted Implement parade, and organizers want to make it memorable!

If you are interested in participating, e-mail us at: [email protected], or just simply show up at our free community rehearsals. You can also call us at: 515-2300. There is no limit to who can participate. There is no skill level requirement either. We aren't looking for perfect dancers or singers. In fact, the whole community is invited to participate. There is no cost to participate in any of these events.

Thanks so much for helping us get the word out!
